Attending Court is the final step of the bankruptcy process. Before contacting the Court and organising a time and date to apply for a Bankruptcy Order you first need to weigh up your options.
Bankruptcy will clear all of your unsecured debts, but in doing so it's going to stay on your Credit File for 6 years, which will affect your future borrowing during that timeframe. An alternative method of insolvency is an IVA, which often can be suitable should you have equity to protect, or a career which is excluded from personal bankruptcy.
If personal bankruptcy is definitely the solution you're looking for, then the required paperwork will eventually be submitted to your local County Court.
For those living within
